March giveaway: Racquet Sports
Well spring is almost here and Ubisoft is making a racket with Racquet Sports for the Nintendo Wii – the second game to feature Ubisoft’s motion tracking camera for the console.
The game itself comes in two flavors – one with the camera for $39.99 and one without for $29.99. You can play the game with the Wiimote or the added benefit of the Wii MotionPlus.
The game includes Tennis, Beach Tennis, Squash, Badminton and Ping Pong, all with their own quirks and variances. There are a multitude of courts (over 40), characters and unlocks as well as six modes of play included in the package.
I’ve already given Racquet Sports a little playtime and I was pleasantly surprised with the USB Camera controls – though I think I still prefer the Wii MotionPlus for now. I will be giving a more thorough review of the game later in the week.
Ubisoft was kind enough to include an additional copy of the game (sans camera) to giveaway to our readers. Got Tennis elbow? No? Want it? Well then here is what you have to do to enter our contest.
Answer this simple question: What is your favorite racquet sport (in real life, obviously) and why? Just keep it to a sentence. If we get over 50 responses on this one, I’ll even add another copy of the game with my own $$$. How’s that for generosity? It’s all about spreading the tennis love.
Contest is open through March 18. Keep an eye on the blog for a review and stay tuned to the channel for gameplay videos.
I love table tennis, because it’s fast moving, and you can play almost everywhere with frends. I love playing it especially in the summer at the beach.
I love badminton. Like all the racquet sports but badminton is a lot of fun. A complete work out, need to work on different strategies based on singles, doubles or mixed. Just love it
I love regular old tennis.
Hi
I saw your badminton video on youtube. For some reason, it doesn’t let me post comments there. Thanks for posting the video. Just what i was looking for.I’m a baddie fanatic and was thinking of shelling out 40 bucks for just badminton game.I’m a bit disappointed from what i saw. Camera angles and locations are just not working. It’s so distracting. Why is the player grunting while serving ? That is not realistic at all for badminton. I think i saw the player using power shot a couple of times for a drive or a lift, which is another let down.Am not impressed by the jump smash either. Deca sports looks like a better game.Don’t see any drop or net play. Can you pls share your experience with motion plus ?Does make it more realistic ? Also, is there an option to do back hand service ?Also wish that I could use nunchuck to move the player. How is the camera working ?Have you tried playing multi player with camera ?Still don’t want to give up on this but so far it’s not looking good.I think I’m more over looking for EA Grandslam’ish badminton game then Wii Sport’ish. I may still pick one up anyway.
I love Tennis, especially on the clay courts, it adds an extra challenge as the ball bounce higher, faster, and provides a great deal of exercise
I enjoy tennis the most due to the amount of exercise involved and it’s just a great game to play outdoors.
Ping Pong is my favorite racquet sport because I use to have a table when I was a little kid and I played it every day.
My favourite Racquet sport would have to be table tennis (ping pong), because the game is a lot of fun to play with friends as a party game, and also gets very interesting when you bend the rules.
Badminton is my favourite racquet sport because it’s great cardio and it helps improve my reflexes while strengthening my legs!
