It’s never too early for NCAA Football news

The recent announcement that EA was putting the NCAA Basketball series on indefinite hold hasn’t stopped the company from moving forward with some very early info on NCAA Football 11.

EA posted an early screenshot (click here) and detailed nine improvements that, while minor, were definitely part of many gamer’s wishlists entering this year.

For one, EA finally got the refs on the field of play! I know a lot of people who just couldn’t grasp the idea of playing without the refs on the field, and it makes sense. They are there. They apparently won’t affect the gameplay (i.e. “extra blocker”) but they will have dynamic “get outta the way” animations that should make the whole experience feel that much more realistic.

Another nice addition is dynamic conference logos and helmet numbering. Schools like Alabama or Teambuilder squads now can utilize individual helmet numbers instead of giving everyone “88″. Conference logos can now appear on any and every stadium as well as change color to fit in. Putting Florida in the Sun Belt will look more natural than it would in real life ;-)

EA is also adding gang tackling, auto saves, and more player equipment as well as some other minor things. For a full rundown head over to ESPN Video Games.
